Wheel spacers
Now to be honest, this is for my sons 2001 miata. I tried the miata board with no action. Is there a general rule on how to know what wheel spacers will fit. I've seen 1". And .75" spacers for sale.i have no idea where to start.
Thanks in advance. |

There is a point of diminishing return with spacers. Wider is good but, too wide is hard on wheel bearings. Also, don't forget longer studs or lug bolts to hold the wheels on.

On my son's miata, the wheel studs are just exactly long enough for the OEM wheels. He got a set of 1" spacers from somewhere that had integrated studs and bolt on using the original studs. It looks pretty good but he is also lowered on coilovers. It looks really good but in my opinion it is slower on the track now, and rubs. But he likes it :) I don't know if his particular spacers would look good without the lowering.

My car came with Porsche supplied spacers - 7mm front and 12mm rear. I think this is the size they recommend if you want spacers. Anything bigger may put a lot of water on bearings.

The 949Racing 6UL wheels are very nice, my son has a set of them, he has the 15x7. 949Racing is working on some 5x130 Porsche fitments for some new 18" wheels coming out, but not any 17's unfortunately.
