highest milage boxster w/ orig engine..

Whats the highest milage engine with an orig engine and only prevantative maintenence. Ive only seen up to 125miles.

blinkwatt 06-29-2006 12:10 AM

98 with 160k,only a clutch kit installed and cat. converter replacement. The lady drives across country and says she loves every minute of it.

Bulldog 07-23-2013 02:43 PM

I have a '99 with 124k
It would be great to hear of some high milage owners out there?
I know Isuzu owners that are over 280k miles on their original motor.
Is 160k the highest?

jb92563 07-23-2013 03:10 PM

I think there's a guy on this forum with ~300K

j.fro 07-23-2013 03:31 PM

I remember the dude w/ 300K, "IMS, what's that?" Classic post!
FWIW, my 2000 Box S has 165,000. Original engine, rms, and IMS. Trans has been rebuilt...1st clutch at 142K.

Ian c 07-23-2013 04:35 PM

I'm sat looking at an 03 2.7 with just over 135k .

No problem IMHO .

They're made to be driven .
That's why they put round wheels on them :D

dbear61 07-23-2013 07:16 PM

Jager has over 245K miles. It's in his signature.

Yes I do but there is a guy in Florida that has over 300,000 on his original engine Boxster.

Would be interesting to know how to reach this mileage on the original engine.
Of course I need to spend a few more hours behind the wheel but with what kind of driving behavior?
Does a 245k Miles engine still se redline now and then, has there been any major jobs done in the engine like new wear pads for the cam chains?
How many waterpumps has passed this, etc

I have a 190.000KM on mine and she still purrs like she was born yesterday.

Porsche Forever

Bulldog 07-24-2013 11:42 AM

Thanks for the replys.
It makes me feel relieved.
I was beginning to wonder if there was such a thing.
Mine purrs also :-)

Perfectlap 07-24-2013 11:48 AM

Macster on Rennlist has 270K... and only one water pump job to date. go figure.

he pointed out that he lets the car sit idle for a bit before shutting it down after running the engine for a while.

tonycarreon 07-24-2013 12:17 PM

floridabill is the guy who had a 2000 Boxster S with 329k (more by now, hopefully) miles a year ago.
he said that other than regular maintenance, the only things he's done were replace the water pump twice and an engine mount.

and yeah he's the guy who said:
"I have no idea what an IMSB is…is this something I need to be aware of?"

Camibox 07-24-2013 02:36 PM

147k and counting

thstone 07-24-2013 02:59 PM

The '97 that I bought had 204,000 when the engine finally let go. Original IMSB.

heliguy 07-24-2013 03:03 PM

104,000. I feel like an infant.

Perfectlap 07-24-2013 03:23 PM

I like that Florida Bill's 330K mile 2000 S has nearly the same factory date as my 2000 S.

Too bad I haven't had his tiny repair bills!

The French Dude 07-24-2013 04:08 PM

I prefer this kind of thread than IMS RMS AOS bla bla failures :D

porscheinthewoods 07-24-2013 04:15 PM

I have 196000 km with all original non-wearing parts and runs great. I even got rid of that 3000rpm vibration. Around here 91 octane is typically highest except one gas brand that has 94 octane. Been using the 94 for 6 months and the vibration is gone. Yah!

dghii 07-24-2013 05:18 PM

I'm currently the proud owner of two Boxsters, neither of which has mileage anywhere close to Florida Bill's.

My 98 has 118K and my 2000S has 111K. Both are driven just about every day.
The 2000S will be taking us on a trip to see the Cardinals and Braves in Atlanta this weekend. About 300 miles each way, No problem!
