Water leak 996
http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1491758777.jpg
Hello again all I haven't been on the forum for a while I sold my 986 back in November and bought a 2003 996 carrera the photo shows some water leaking onto my leather door panels on both sides. Any ideas? Are there seals behind the mirrors that can leak |
I have a very similar issue on my 986, I have not repaired it yet, however when I posted previously someone mentioned that the leather backing is fiberboard/cardboard, which might explain this. If you have it repaired, please post and let us know how it went.

My boxster actually did the same thing on one door my 996 both doors are leaking. I didn't mind in the boxster as the door panels weren't leather and it would clean up-the leather is beginning to look pretty bad so i need to address it asap

Make sure the thin plastic lining is still in place behind the interior door panel and that the drains on the bottom of the door are open.

After you find the source you should be able to restain the leather to get it looking decent. Plus some good leather conditioner and you should be good.

I think there is a seal in the side mirror triangles that may be leaking. I don't think you can repair the leather. Could also just have been a careless owner leaving the window down partially in the rain.
