Weird torque 80Nm for the automatic transmission oil pan fill plug?
80Nm( 59Ft-lb) is unarguable torque instruction found in all the water-cooled Porsche service manuals 2005-2009 Porsche 987.1 Cayman , Boxster 986 A86.00 Tiptronic -99 A86.05 00- A86.20 and 2005-2009 997: the Porsche shop manual, Bentley, 101 projects by Dempsy, and 986, Rennlist, Renntech forums searched.

It is more than ball joint torque of the robust Porsche LCA(lower control arm=wishbone) 56Ft-lb(76Nm). I couldn't see so much enforced portion there around the large M30-1.5mm filler female port. Most modern Mercedes including 722.9 late tranny specify this torque value 22Nm for M12-1.5mm drain/fill plug, and 20Nm for my MX-5 M12-1.5mm. I don't know whether Porsche changed or reconstructed only the tranny pan,# 986-321-025-02, to the original ZF 5HP19 body. But ZF recommends that low torque value. I suppose that the oil pan is from ZF, isn't it? Is 80Nm way too much for purpose of no leakage even considering the large fill plug size M30-1.5mm? Furthermore, it will be lubricated torque with ATF inevitable there meaning actual torque of ~1/4 or 1/3 more than the 80Nm! Is there any reason to follow that scary torque value? Enlighten me.
