What is this?
2002 Boxster S, 78k miles. I have tracked this car in 7-8 DEs to date so far since last November. UD pulley installed since January.
I have a power steering leak and removed the pump and reservoir to take a closer look, but I found this bushing just lightly press fit in the engine case hole (or head). What the heck is this? Should there be a hose connected to this round aluminum bushing? Is it possible all that oil and grime on top of the case is from oil coming out of this bushing? Another question: it seemed to me like the leak was from the front of the pump. Is it possible for the power steering pump to leak though the shaft seal in the front? The red compression fitting ring for the return line connection to the reservoir was fine (not melted) and I couldn't find any other leak source. Maybe old o-rings. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1490240229.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1490240239.jpg |
