Trim Options
I need to decide by Mon what I should do with the trim in my 01 911 cab. As a reminder, it has a Savannah Beige interior.
My options are: Paint the trim black. This will be the cheapest and fastest option. Dark wood overlay similar to the original trim via hydrographics. Carbon fiber overlay via hydrographics. Most expensive option but not prohibitive. Because of the compound curves of the console, guy is not sure he can get the lines perfect with cf. Saw a compound example and it looked OK. Rest of the pieces should lay out fine. Keep in mind this is a Wheeler Dealer car and the idea is to not be too far out and reduce the potential buyers. Attached are some pics for examples. Since its a wheeler dealer car, you'l have a lot better chance finding decent black trim parts at reasonable prices.
I saw a 911 of the same vintage last year on local CL...looked like the one you have and had a similar issue with wood trim being a mess. How disappointing as the trim looks nice on the car. |
Wood trim and CF are a matter of taste. I like wood trim and I think fake CF looks silly. Some people think the opposite. The black is neutral and shouldn't lessen the pool of buyers.

Wheeler Dealer - Black. If you were keeping it, then either the original wood or paint selected pieces match to exterior with the rest black.

Black is the least likely to scare off a buyer ...

:barf:Never wood never

Better go black. It's neutral for most folks on their like/dislike scale.
|
Leave it stock. Most future buyers will want a completely stock car.

My 2 cents - if there is still some of the original wood left anywhere in the interior and the new "wood" is reasonably close to matching, go wood. If there is none of the original wood left, or if there is some but the new "wood" doesn't match what is left of the original wood, go with the black.

Stick with black for resale purposes, but if it were mine I would be awfully tempted to paint the center console & other paintable pieces in the same blue as your exterior as I love the look of continuing the exterior scheme into the interior of roadsters
