Front trunk opening issues

Hi All,

When I press button on the key or hit the Trunk opening button, I hear the clicks and it seems like the trunk is opening. However, it does not open enough to insert fingers in to slide the middle lock/lever.

It does create some space on the sides where I can lift it up by an inch or so and then I can slide my finger to slide the lever.

Any ideas or tips to troubleshoot this issue will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Jay

Lubrication ease of movement. Do the struts hold it up OK?

Grease gets old. Clean the lock release mechanism in lumber it. Cold weather probably adds to the problem.

That should read "lube it". Darn spell check!

It also may be possible that the actuator is failing. This happened on my '04.

Just something to look into if the other methods don't help. :)

Common and classic symptoms of a worn out spring in the hood release. The entire assembly must be replaced. Easy DYI job. You can buy a new one, or get a used one from a recycler like Woody.

Just sayin'...........

Thank you all, I lubed the latch mechanism and it took care of the problem.
