Who has powder coated their calipers ?

I am thinking of doing this during the spring. My question is given the 350 to 400 degrees to finish the powder coating wouldn't this (forgive the pun) toast the piston seals ??

I have also read that some say powder coating will allow the caliper to get too hot...this might be true on a track car...but like most I just drive mine on the street.

Thanks in advance

Dwight

The safe approach is to remove everything before powder coating. Then re-assemble. I have heard of a few folks doing this with the seals installed (lots of debate on the interwebs about powder coating temps vs brake operating temps) but it seems like a risk not worth taking.

Taking them apart to powder coat sounds like a good reason to replace the seals to me. They're only a few bucks from Pelican

I have used G2 brush on paint a couple times on calipers. Each time I have painted them I left them on the car and they have come out great. Here is a link to Tire Racks ad for G2. It is also sold on eBay.
