Popping/Cracking when shifting

Hi all! New to the forum, but have found it very helpful. I did a search but could not find any information on my problem. When I shift gears I hear a popping/cracking sound, what causes this? I own a 2002 S. Thanks in advance for any help.

Where is the sound coming from? Is it from the clutch pedal itself, like a clicking sound when the clutch pedal is pushed in? If so, then it's normal. Is this your first manual transmission car? I hope not... because if it wasn't, you'd have a good idea of what is normal and what isn't. Of course, there are some other particular "typical Porsche" things that a lot of these cars have and is also normal, such as "moody" second gear synchros, for example.

The sound is coming directly from the shifter as I shift gears. This is by far not my first manual, but it was not making this noise when I bought the car. All fluid levels seem to be okay.
