Anyone here done much powder coating at home....??

I have been looking at a small table top blasting cabinet for my shop, that and possibly powdercoating for some small parts....possibly even the calipers eventually. Which media would be best to blast with ??

I wish someone could invent a procedure to powder coat PU/Plastic parts like the side air vents...to make it even more complicated, with a chrome (or maybe nickel) finish.

But I won't give up, I know, someday it will be possible

YouTube is your friend here, watch videos and pick out which method suits what you are trying to do. For calipers, I never liked blasting them unless you take them completely apart as the sand or other media gets into everything no matter how you try to seal it off.

I have had good success with the Eastwood system. Getting it right didn't see that hard and it was fun to learn. The temps are not that high and I have been using a toaster oven that we had laying around. I have picked up a regular electric oven with the hope of doing some wheels.

2nd the Eastwood system. I did it at home in my oven and the results were great.

You will have to try different medias depending on what you are blasting and what finish you want. I'm sure a search will turn up the right stuff.

I've been pondering the Eastwood system for redoing wheels (and the 911's door handles). Went with Eastwood's 2K spray paint to try on the handles first, however. If it works well then I'm using that on the rollbar cover.

I cant imagine having an oven large enough to get the wheels (or a single wheel) in it. I was planning on doing my calipers this summer.

I fit 16" wheels in my oven.

I barely got a 17 in mine. I have two ovens and one of these days the plan is to weld them together to make one big powder coating oven
