1998 Boxter Windows will not work
Hi
I have acquired a 1998 Boxter and was having problems with the ignition switch. I replaced the ignition switch and that problem is solved but now the windows will not go up or down using the switch. They do lower when I open the doors and then raise when I close the doors. I can not remember if the interior lights worked when I got the car but they are not working currently. I do not have any type of experience or manual on this car so I do not know if they use the same fuse in the panel on the floor but I used a test light and they all seem to have power on both sides of the fuse. Any ideas what fuse it is or where to look first? Thanks Jim |
If the top microswitch fails (supercommomon) they will usually go down but not up but I would just try that first. It is up in the center where the top latches, just push it in with your finger a few times and then hold it and try the window and see if that works.

Thank you! I just tried that and unfortunately no luck. The dome and door lights are not working either which made me think it was a fuse but I can't find one that isn't good. I don't know which fuse it is on a 1998 so I used a test light on both sides of each fuse in the box. It all worked before I changed the ignition switch. Last night I put the original switch back in but it must now be completely bad because nothing works with the original switch now. I'm wondering if maybe the replacement switch which was an aftermarket one is just no good as well
