Interesting? Looks to me like they sold for about what you would find them for online? Did I miss something?

Great place to unload a car...worst place to buy IMHO. You pay top dollar with no PPI and no test drive. There is the occasional reasonable buy assuming there are big issues with the car.

1997 PORSCHE BOXSTER (no reserve) Realized $15,400
2000 PORSCHE BOXSTER (no reserve) Realized $13,200
These are not the usual prices for base boxsters or that era.

Without mileage its hard to make a determination on value. The only thing that I can conclude is that those cars were very low miles and in near-perfect condition to be sold at those prices. At least now we know where the very top of the market is for a 1997 Boxster!
Or.... its basically a case of folks having a few too many cocktails at the event and getting a little too enthusiastic with their bidding.

A 97 box for 15 and a 2000 non S for over 12. Those prices are getting a little rare, especially a 2.5 for over 10k, remember this is actual sale price. Could be the start of an uptick, I mean that's a base model boxster going for what a Maserati gran cabrio of similar year goes for.

I've never known another group of car folks so worried and anxious about the pricing on similar used vehicles.
If you are buying this car as a collectors car - you better stick it in the garage and never drive it (or enjoy it). And then cross your fingers.
Otherwise, who cares? Drive it and enjoy it and if it happens to be worth a couple bucks when it's all over, great. Odds are it won't be though, and that's okay. You bought a car, not a Rembrandt.

Buyer must have had too many cocktails.

1997 PORSCHE BOXSTER (no reserve) Realized $15,400 - Tiptronic w/56K miles
2000 PORSCHE BOXSTER (no reserve) Realized $13,200 - Tiptronic w/83K miles
2002 Boxster 2.7 - Tiptronic w/??? miles went for $14,300
2000 Boxster S - 6 speed w/35K miles went for $15,950
The 2000 2.7 Tiptronic was listed on multiple websites for $8,995. Before bidders premium, the owner took home $12,000. Not bad!
1) I think cocktails were definitely involved.
2) All cars had no reserve
3) I will be detailing my Boxster when I get to Amelia Island in March and rolling it up on the stage!

People seem to get stupid at auctions sometimes. You can find boxsters in similar condition for half that price on CL.

Someone picked up a 97 that they will store for 50+ years and sell for $150k-$250k.
Did you see what that rusty old 1956 356 sold for?
You have to realize that the folks at these actions come with the mindset of spending $500k - $3 Mil so the poor little Boxsters probably cost about the same as the weekend bar tab for these folks. Perhaps they just didn't want to leave empty handed.
Honestly the whole collecting thing is overrated. I rather have fun with things and turn them loose for others to enjoy as well when Im done with them.
Most people wont live long enough to really enjoy a collection cashout anyway.
What good is a few extra million when your really too old to even enjoy spending it.
Only thing I ever collected was stamps. Those Hitler stamps have got to be worth something now, especially since stamps are on the verge of becoming completely obsolete?

I'd be real happy if my early-production first year boxster increased in price... even a little!
