Chuck

I have also considered a lift, so please post updates on your research and decisions. We seem to be on the same wavelength regarding mods (e.g. glass window top, 5-gauge cluster, homelink) so your thoughts on the lift should be enlightening.

I'm thinking that a 4-post lift would work best for me since I would like to store two cars in one garage. I'd like to see how you address issues like the height of your space, and accommodating the garage door opener.

Just sayin'............

Haaaaaaa... you are probably correct regarding wanting to keep it. I look at the value of the Boxster now like I look at my home. I am not going to sell it so it really doesn't matter its worth. Now, my kids may care!

Will do. There is a lot of information out there and no lack of opinions, brands and models. My garage is 34 feet wide and 26.5 feet deep (900 sf) and from the floor to the bottom of the trust is 8.9 feet. I will have to frame out an area of the trust to give me more height. I am also going to set the lift in the back portion of the garage so that it will not interfere with the garage door tracks or openers.

Nice garage. Mine started out pretty until I started working in it I've been wrenching on Porsche's on my Bendpak HD9 four post lift for many years now. An eleven foot ceiling works. I also have the sliding hydraulic bridge jack which can be useful. A four poster takes a big bite out of floor space because its 10 feet wide.
