Alternator date..?
|
Well, it's an '01 part#, but that doesn't tell you when it was installed.

Hopefully someone else will chime in because I honestly don't know. I have found a few part #'s on my '99 ending in 01.
So, I guess I was really no help at all. :p |

There is no definitive way to get a date from that information (as far as I know). But according to the parts guide, the -01 version was installed through 1999. Since that part number has been superseded, it likely would not have been installed new after 1999/2000, or else it would be -02. My guess would be that -01 would be earlier than '99, because the parts guide jumps from -01 to -03. A dealer may be able to give you more information about when a version was superseded (such as -01 to -02), but that doesn't really tell you when it was installed. It could have come from the factory, or it could have been installed used, since it is a relatively expensive part.

Depends on whether your car is a manual transmission or Tiptronic.
If manual trans, then the -01 was only fitted from 97-99 and replaced with -02 from 00-04. If tiptronic, could be any year from 97-04. Beyond this, there is no way that I know to determine the actual manufacturing date from the info in the image provided. There might be some date stampings somewhere on the unit or some of the other components but that is just a guess and may require disassembly to find anything. |
I see it was made in Britain, praise be to someone that it wasn’t made by Lucas??
