Sports cars like Porches are mechanical. Mechanically inclined sports cars will need maintenance. The Boxster is easily maintained with DIYs. At the end of the day do prefer to say you drive a Porche or a Mazda?:ah:

I sold my friend's 2008 Miata earlier this yr. I felt cramped inside it.

When I'm in a hurry to get to the golf course, many times I just throw my clubs in the passenger seat. My clubs do fit in the trunk of my 987S Boxster LE but you need to take the woods out. I have a cart bag. Not sure if a staff bag would fit. With a little effort, you can get 2 cart bags in the back of a Cayman but it's a 10 min job taking all the long clubs out. No way to get 2 bags in a Boxster.

I might suggest jumping up a tad to look for a base 2006 Boxster. It's a 987 version (97-04 are 986s, 05-08 are 987.1s). The 987 platform is much more reliable than a 986 in that it has fewer niggling issues. Plus it has an improved IMS that virtually eliminates the possibility of failure. A base 987 has 240 HP, so it's almost the same as a 986 S. I recommend a 2006 because while a 2005 is a 987, it was a crossover year for the IMS and it's very hard to know if you have the old IMS of the 986 or the new one unless you pull the tranny. Get a 2006 and you'll have the new one. A base 2006 Boxster will run somewhere between $13-15K. A 987 Boxster will have more room than a Miata and slightly more room than a 986 Boxster.

If you want to be noticed pulling into the golf course parking lot, buy a Boxster.
