Remove and refinish plastic trim on the seat.
Besides removing the two visible screws are there any tricks to removing the gray seat trim and the two black pieces without breaking anything?
I am looking to refinish the gray trim piece. Have any of you done this and what method did you use to get good results? Thanks. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1481433539.jpg |
I have removed mine several times, quite easy. First remove the height adjustment lever by prying straight off the shaft with some non scratch pry tool, a plastic knife works well enough. Then remove the recline lever, it is a ball and socket that pops into it's shaft. Notice there is a plastic rod from the recline switch that must fit back into it's receptacle on the lever. Remove the 2 screws. Now push up from the bottom of the trim plate to release the 2 catches on top then pull away from the seat. The recline switch is attached to the trim plate by 4 latches. Gently pry and the switch will come off. You're on your own for the paint!

Thanks for the explicit removal instructions.
