Need to fix this.
Hi all, I have a 2002 base model and over the weekend changed fluids, cleaned and waxed and ready to put in hibernation. However, in the process of wiping down the interior I broke off the little knob adjuster on the cluster. This is the one that controls the dimming of the lights on the cluster. I obviously want to fix this, any help with the process would be appreciated. I have searched the forum and found lots of discussion on replacing the cluster but nothing on this item, thanks.

Those are cheap to replace. They just pull out and just pop in the new ones...
Suncoast Porsche Parts & Accessories Instrument Cluster Knob Set I got em in aluminum look cause I think the stock ones look cheap: http://i869.photobucket.com/albums/a...psadi9qgju.jpg |
Thanks so much for the quick response.

+1 on those aluminum look knobs. Much better look than stock, and feel more substantial as well.

So the knobs just pull off and replace, it appears that what snapped was the piece that the knob slips over, any other ideas?

Yes, they just pull off and the new ones slip on. But, if there is nothing for them to slip onto, I'd guess you'd be in the market to replace the entire cluster.

There's been threads on this. You might be able to repair the shafts if that's what's broken...

Be sure to check if the rod part is also damaged. I thought I just knocked the knob part off but after I got the new ones I realized I had broken the rod and the knobs didn't push on. I had to replace the rods also.
