I don't know if it's just my tires, but I get terrible axle tramp if I try an overly spirited standing acceleration. Axle tramp is terrible on the transmission so I've only tried this once.

That sucks. My wife gets axle tramps. I just let her lie on the couch. Maybe you could do that with your Boxster when "that time of the month" comes along. Worth a shot.....
