10 greatest Porsche's ever made
Strong statement on the 986.

They kinda talk about the Boxster like it was an accountant, not a great car.
Based on the above reasoning, I'd ditch the Carrera GT on that list and add the SUVs. If my research is correct, Porsche sold 165,000 986 Boxsters from 1997-2004. They sold 166,000 Cayennes and Macans in 2015 alone. https://www.hemmings.com/magazine/hsx/2015/10/Boxster-on-a-Budget---1997-2004-Porsche-Boxster/3749011.html https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/annual-report/en.html |
Without the Boxster there would be no Cayenne because they would not have had the money to develop it. Boxster saved the company and the Cayenne ensured it's future.
If the Boxster wasn't great then they would not have sold as many as they did. |
No 904?!
Prettiest Porsche ever made. |
I agree with the list and find it interesting, of course the order of the list applies at the moment I think it would change as some models get older and some more desirable than others.

Best ever made? Maybe top 10 most important. There are just so many nice 911's that came along the way it would be tough to put in the top ten. I do think it's styling will prove timeless though. Beautiful styling.
IMO, They need to win a big race (cayman maybe) to give the boxster more street cred. Can you even race a convertible professionally? Probably Not going to happen but would do wonders for the name. Fun read though. Thanks. |
#1 - Mine
#2-10 - anything else :) |

With that being said, Porsche is downplaying the Boxster in racing in favor of the Cayman, e.g., GT-4 street car and the GT-4 Clubsport race car. |
