Dings and Things
I found out today that my local Porsche dealer, Champion Motors, now has a "dent pulling service" available. Can't wait for my next service so that I can have those "invisible" door dings that only I can see removed! The one's that are only visible at a certain angle as the light strikes the panel. (I only have ONE) and can't understand how it got there - I've never parked in a space that had a car parked on the right!!!!!!! Oh well.................at least I'll sleep at night now!

So, let me give you a hypothetical situation:
Say you spent a lot of time looking for just the right Boxster. Say you just found it. Then, say your wife took it to a family birthday party to show it off...without you. Say your idiot brother-in-law was performing some still-to-be-determined activity with the top, which caused the top mechanism to break and the hard boot to become stuck in the up position. Then say, hypothetically of course, that in an attempt to avoid a potentially life-altering beating, said idiot brother-in-law attempted to force that boot down by pushing it, hanging on it, whatever, until it, and its hinges, bent and several large dimples appeared where the outer skin comes in contact with the under-structure. Then, say your wife drove it home that way and the plastic trim pieces on either side of the boot blew off on the highway, never to be seen or heard from again. You guys are saying that would bother you in some way???   |
Bother?? Heck, in my opinion, that would be grounds for divorce... ;)

that's hilarious griz!

Hypothetically, I would be in jail for a double homicide |
With threee boys (ages 12,17, 19), who know the value of nothing..... i live in constant fear of ding, dents, scratches & other unmentionable acts of vandalism.

Grizzly I couldn't but stop to laugh at your story...however I'm really sorry for your experience. The only advice I can offer is next time marry within your species! I hope it works out well for you!

tonyg, I too have a couple of miscellaneous dents which came from nowhere. The car is only about 4 months old, was brand new and I never park next to anyone etc.. Out of nowhere I have these very mild dents in the back quarter panel that you can only see in the right lighting. How does that happen? Starting to think the nice curves on the boxster aren't very dent resistant.
Guess I'll be visiting the shop as well. |
those dents can some times come from driving on the highway where at high speed a small pebble or rock can cause a ding. Also beware of parking under trees with acorns and mischievous porsche-hating squirrels.
I had two dings removed for $130. Perfect job. |

So I looked closely a second time and found another small "invisible" dent on the passenger door-not only don't I park next to anyone but I very rarely park with the daily exception of the Health Professions faculty parking lot where I have my own space and pillars on either side - not cars! My Boxster is pristine other than these "light sensitive ripples". Oh well............I'm looking into the paintless dent removal system that my local porsche dealer now offers. |

RonDog,
For your sanity and your precious vehicle, I would suggest storing the vehicle at a vehicle storage place. Holy ****************...I have one one on the way, I couldn't imagine those ages around the car without any dings happening. Here's a true story, that I'll never forget. It was 1996 and my senior year in high school in the Spring. Myself and another were at a good friends house which included his dad's mid-life crisis car fesh from the stealership....a brand new 1996 Porsche Tubo with a total of 800 miles on the odometer. Black on black... the thing was sick. We found a spare key, hopped in and started up the thing.....Holy ****************, are we going for a ride? He'll yes we are. All 3 of us proceeded to cruise around...we're such a-holes. It was fun, and will be hiding all spare keys from any teenage being in my house later down the road. KRZ |
KRZ---
The spares are already in the super top secret hiding place ( behind the toilet bowl cleaner - God knows they would never look there!!!!) Great anecdote...did you do any damage?!?!?! |

It *was* a good hiding place until you posted about it ;) Better delete your history and pray that they don't know about your forum habits ;) |
