IMS bearing replacement
Just purchased my first Porsche, a 2004 Boxster 986 Tiptronic (automatic) with 56000 on the odometer. Car appears very well cared for and no indication of ims bearing problems, but is there a general rule on when to start thinking about changing the ims bearing and to which bearing? I've heard the IMS solution is the best way to go but there is also the ceramic replacement. Any input is appreciated!

As always, "Search" is your best friend.
As for when to do it, before it starts to fail. |
Before you do anything - find a competent, honest Indie .Ask here for recommendations near you if you give smaller radius than the entire state of Illinois.

There is a huge contingent of PCar owners who would say "never' is the right time. With a greater than 90% chance nothing will ever go wrong, seems like a great way to waste your money. So many other items to worry about first, such as the water pump.
