Following with my OCD to strip my boxster to be lighter and lighter..
what is the purpose of the headlight rubber plug as per image, would there be any harm to ditch it?
cheers

It seals the hole where the tool is inserted that releases the headlight unit to take it out of the car. Maybe if your car is out in a torrential rainstorm some water could get in the trunk through the front fender wells? When I take my headlights out I can see they have some road dust on the housings and there are some small amounts of road grit inside the headlight cavity. Other than OCD, to which I can certainly relate, are there any specific reasons why you're lightening your car?

I took mine out and haven't had any problems, but I also don't drive in the rain. I also took out all the frunk carpet and the frunk rubber hood seal. I had to put the seal back on because it helps the hood pop up. Without the seal the hood doesn't pop up enough so you can reach the release lever. You have to pry under the hood to get it to come up. I used a nylon tool for a while but it got old and looked kind of tacky doing it so I put the seal back on.

Doesn't that seal keep the water out too?
