New tires for 987.2 Base - Michelin-Pilot Sport A/S 3+?

Has anyone any experinece with Michelin-Pilot Sport A/S 3+ ?

I am searching for new tires for my 987.2. I know this is not the 987.2 forum but you folks at 986 are so knowledgeable that I have continued to trust your judgment on various items.

I have AS 3's on my 996 Targa and they are noisy as sin.
They are so loud I thoughtg I had bad wheel bearings

I have them on my car and contrary to jay's experience I haven't had and issues with noise at all. Granted, they are the only tires I've used on my car so far but they are no louder than other tires I have used on different cars. YMMV

+1
As 3 season tires go I have no problem with them. Good in wet and cold. They're not good in snow, what I assume the + after the 3 means, but they shouldn't be either as 4 season tires are a joke in real snow.

I assume that full on summer tires with minimal siping might be quieter. I wouldn't know.

The best scenario is to use summer tires in warm weather and winter tires in cold. All seasons use a harder rubber than say pilot super sports so you loose grip during the hotter months. That also helps with road noise. Nothing wrong with a/s 3 just a little different tire.

Can't comment on A/S 3s specifically but I just went from all seasons to a summer tire and it's such a better experience, noise and comfort is better by miles, as is stopping and grip. If you live in a warm enough area to run summer tires year round, I highly suggest it.

I have had the A/S 3+ on my 911SC for the past year. They are fantastic tires - very good dry handling, great rain performance, and I never noticed any noise problem even with the targa top off.

Definitely recommend.

I used to use Michelin-Pilot Sport A/S 3+ but switched because I was going through tires really fast (aggressive driving)... my wallet just couldn't keep up!

I love the AS/3's on my 2016 GTI; best UHP all-rounders I've ever driven on.

I just replaced PS3's with S-04's

Now, the car I bought came with Pilot Sport AS3, not the AS3+.

I just replaced them with Bridgestone S-04 Pole Position summer tires.

It is a huge improvement.

Since you live in DFW, I highly recommend the Bridgestone S-04.

As another posted above, the AS3's were incredibly loud. They also didn't stick that well. And they were scary in the rain.

Good luck.
