Boxster nicked
My baby was stolen on Saturday night.
Went to the pub, came back 2 and a half hours later - gone.
Gutted.

Aargh, sorry to hear about that mate, that really sucks. Maybe you'll get lucky and they will never recover the car and your insurance payout will be kind enough that you can upgrade to a newer model.

Wow, that sucks... I remember I was crushed about 10 years ago when my highly modified 951 was stolen.

I'm surprised to hear it was successfully stolen. How they actually get the car to start without a programmed key is amazing to me. They must have hauled the car away with a tow truck to be broken down and sold for parts, huh?

i remember watching my buddy's '90 944 turbo get stolen from across the parking lot. a pickup truck stopped by it; the passenger got out, opened the door and started the engine with a key, and drove it away.

This is terrible news for you, I'm sorry to hear of your loss ...I had a '69 Firebird stolen years back, and I was in shock for days after. 1 of a kind with gold imron paint......Even more shocked when they found it 3 months later COMPLETELY stripped and torched afterwards....
I hope you get your car back in good shape and the thieves who perpetuated this crime get sent to the slammer!

My first car was a 63 Stingray. Stolen out of my driveway at dusk.
It broke my heart!
Got it back though.

I'm really sorry to hear of your loss.
When you said 'nicked' it immediately told me that you were British... don't they have CCTVs set up all throughout the major cities there?
Any luck with that?

Sadly not. Thanks for the kind words all.
Just had a grilling from hell from the insurance company, now just gotta wait and see what happens I guess.

They can still start the car. The pros figured out how to get past the programmed key long ago.

Well. The car turned up 2 weeks later. It has scratches all over the bodywork, but that seems to be about it. No damage to the locks or ignition barrell.
The insurance company are now saying that it MUST have been stolen using keys, as there is no theft damage - only I had all 3 keys which I posted to them. It looks like theyre trying to find a way of wriggling out of paying for the bodywork damage.
Its under investigation, theyre writing to me to ask if I can think of any other way in which it may have been stolen, but Ive no idea!
Theres 5k worth of bodywork needed on it now, if they dont pay for it Im gonna be left with a scratched Boxster that I cant afford to have fixed right now.
Gutted.
How am I meant to know how they took it !?
Feel like crying. Its bad enough your car gets taken and scratched, let alone leaving me with the bill. I thought thats what insurance was for.

I used to think LoJack was the save all, however if you live close to the border forget about it. My buddy had his truck stolen a couple month ago and LoJack tracked it into Mexico. They would neither go get the car nor disable it because it crossed an international border. The Mexican police wouldn't do anything about it either. We actually planned an operation to go steal it back, but Juarez is notorious for drug cartels so he just let the insurance company pay out.

well, since the US government will not police the border, I guess it is silly for us to think anyone will help get our stolen vehicles back from Mexico.

Two ways:
1) replacement ECU and their own pcar key that matches (more common because this is the cheaper way)
2) flash the ECU with a hacker program to disable the transponder and set to work with their pcar key (only major pros do this because it is the more expensive way)
Those are the two ways pros are getting around the key security and takes all but under 1 min to do.
Lesson learned: Why do they need our keys when they got their own and they can make it work on any car.
edit:
Was your car stolen with the top down? I am thinking it was because that only makes it easier for car theives. Otherwise someone would have heard the alarm go off.
