I have a second set of rims with snow tires for the winter. I am not an expert on rim/tire sizing, however if the cup wheels are the regular Porsche 17" size, I would recommend going as narrow as possible. When I replace my snow tires later this year I will be going for 205/50/17 and 225/45/17.

Here is a PDF that will help:

Thank you for the PDF. It was most helpful to see what dimensions Porsche recommended.

With spacers the 8" rear 993 WB Cup 2 wheel should fit. In my experience narrow winter tires are what one should aim for. Much better in the snow. Taller sidewall means better comfort and it saves the wheels from curbing a bit more. Itīs not always possible to see whats underneath snow unfortunately.

With that said is there anyone who use wider 17" 255/40 winter tires? They might be more stabil in higher speeds when the roads are free from is and snow. But of course not as good in deeper snow. In my case it would mean sourcing a set of wider rear 9" Cup 2 wheels later on if I want to go in that direction.

However I think I will be just fine with 17" 225/45.
