I will fit it to the car as soon as I can and take some better photos. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1470675725.jpg This next one is a bit foggy, think I had camera on wrong setting. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1470675848.jpg I am quite pleased. Its my first ever attempt at fibre glass moulds.:cool: |
Looks like some good work... interested to see again once installed.

Spoiler on the car. I sprayed the top of it with some wheel silver I had on the shelf.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1470912025.jpg

Looks great, very subtle. In my case that spoiler is rarely going to see the "up" position. Max speed here/city is 80Km/hrs lolll. Just got to look good you know Thx for posting up pics. I'd trade your summer any day btw. 38+ degree with clear blue sky daily here.... just can't touch the 20 y/old Boxster in these conditions :/ |

I am going to put a radius on the same as the rear light corner. |
Very nice clean look.
|
Looks great! Interested to see with added radius.
 |

In my opinion the rounded corner version looks much better. Nice work . Strange we've gone from 1997 to three months ago with no one making these. Then within the past two months we have two forum members making them. Good luck to both of you selling them .

I like the version with the radius better.
|
If anything you may need to make the radius a little more pronounced. The Boxster has a beautiful round form and the spoiler in my opinion should continue that shape .
|
All these spoilers look great - but I do like the shape of the 2016 Spyders spoiler - the ends seem to blend into the body/lights really nice.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1471038527.jpg

Like the radius. Like the overall design, but the sides Really need to follow the trunk line where it meets the tail light. Otherwise it doesn't look right from the rear or from above, especially when in the down position.
Correct this, and the allure may overwhelm my financial restraint. |

Based upon the photos, your product appears to match OEM quality. Would be cool to see a YT video walk around that includes a profile shot of entire car as you raise and lower the spoiler. Great job thus far! If you get the design and price right, your spoiler may significantly raise your income. ~With Respect |

I have answered this in an earlier post in January-ish. If you look at the cap on your Boxster you should notice that it follows the rear light line. I have done the same, this also allows it to meet up with the bumber recesss. The spoiler still tapers toward the rear. Thanks for your comments. I am still considering more radius though. A video is well worth considering, thanks. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1471105564.jpg |

Derfo,
Your work is impressive. But to look "right," the line between trunk and quarter panel needs to be extended to form the edge of the spoiler. Otherwise it just doesn't flow visually, looks like it is "adapted" to fit. Your 3rd pic in the recent post illustrates this very well. My opinion is worth what it cost, so if your sense of cohesive aesthetics points in a different direction, so be it. |

Since my first attempt at making molds out of fibreglass was a learning curve, and I must say a lot easier than I thought. It gave me the confidence to make a mould out of a pattern, (buck) I have been working on and off for about 8 years, between road crashes, illness and earning a living.
Thought you may be interested to see how it turned out. By the way, its a little larger than the spoiler. This is pattern, (buck) http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1471245722.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1471245845.jpg This is the mould and the finnished roof. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1471246062.jpg In the past I sent a pattern to a professional mould maker. The mould was exellent but it cost me a lot of £, $. With my time and doing it myself (diy) I would say its cost me a third. Hope you like. The lesson, do good research and have a go no matter what it is. Do even better research if its brain surgery your attempting. |
Nice work but perhaps a little more radius ;-)
