Stahl Wille SF12623 Two Stage Tie Rod Tool Stahl Wille SF12623 Two Stage Tie Rod Tool From the instructions I have for replacing the rear springs, it mentions using the above tool. Is there a cheaper alternative. Amazon lists at about $230. Thanks, David |

Yeah the harbor freight version, it is very nice and around $20'ish. You may have to use a grinder to widen the jaws slightly to better handle the LCA ball joint ends. But it may nit be 100% necessary. I was able to do one without widening the jaws, and the other was so frozen I had to.pound it with a pickle fork and a sledge hammer. Luckily I was replacing it :) This one: http://m.harborfreight.com/3-4-quarter-inch-forged-ball-joint-separator-99849.html |

Kroil or PB Blaster may help .Let it soak/reapply for a few hours or better, overnight. Also use the double hammer trick a few times as you tighten the tool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_motcAywkM |

One other question, since I am removing a ball joint, I will need to put back. Do I need to lube anything or is the ball joint self contained. Thanks again. |
