Just Got Back From Germany - Picked Up an M2 for Wife

We started looking for a new car for my wife last September. She had a 2007 Mini Cooper S. After a long journey, we picked up her new BMW M2 in Munich on July 12 and spent a week on the road in Germany, France, Switzerland and Austria. We also hit the Nurburgring for a lap each.

I post a very long thread with a ton of photos on Bimmerfest if you'd like to see ALL the details and a ton of photos.

Nice Bimmer. Love the color. The automotive press has a lot of positive things to say about the M2. Is it as good of a driver's car as they say?

Looks like you had an action packed couple of weeks and an absolute blast.

The wife and I are heading the Germany next year in May for a couple of weeks. It's been too long since we last went and we have a long list of things that we want to do. One of the items is renting a Porsche for a few days. Can't wait!

Wow, sounds like a lot of fun, Chuck. Who had the faster lap?

Sorry, Chuck, but I think your wife was worth at least an M3 in a fair trade...

Looks like you had the trip of a lifetime! I was thinking of you though, with the shootings in Munich. Certainly glad you're both home safe.

Nice write up on bimmersfest. Seems you really enjoyed your trip to Europe.

That is how the world changes. Women prefer the agressive looking M2 (nice car by the way), while man drive their old 986 Boxters, where everybody said it's a womens car. ;)

Regards, Markus

Things certainly have changed. The benign looks of BMW in years past is gone. The new front end is really aggressive looking like it wants to bite the air in front of it.

Congrat's Chuck, good looking car! I'll be brief as I'm sure you have lot's of undercarrage polishing to attend to. ;)

Glückwunsch, Chuck
what a cool looking, zippy car...brutal 370PS
:troll:
Reminds me of the good old 2002...I wonder why they don't offer it in orange, although blue looks perfect!

Very nice! Congrat's!

The new M2 is a real bad ass in the mold of some of the earlier M cars which are now classics. Well done.

Do you have any audio from that N-ring lap?

No. Unfortunately the mini SD card in my dash cam was only 16gb. I thought it was larger and I would have gotten the entire trip on it. It looped over the ring. A huge disappointment as we were passed twice by two different BMWs that blew our door off. One was on the verge of losing control. It was wild. I would love to see that on the dash cam video.

In 2011 my son sent us on a three week European trip. At one point on that trip I was standing in the Coliseum and couldn't believe I was there. It was surreal. Driving on the ring it was the same feeling.

M2 vs. Macan turbo (the Macan S is already a powerhouse, but the turbo takes it to the "next level")
