lovely walk through on the 986 and tons of comments and bantar back and forth, but have any of the fellow 987 owners actually performed the operation on their car? furthermore, is as easy  as depicted in the pix for the 986 and was it worth the trouble - in other words did all the remaining pieces go back together easily and correctly to justify any change in audible roar???

Desnorkeling a 987 was vigorously debated in this thread, in which I posted the negative experiences of a 987 owner from PPBB.

http://986forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5316

Ironically, that owner was KTS who was so jazzed about the initial removal in the Renntech thread posted by Tool Pants. The 986 owners dismissed the negative experience as "anecdotal" and even quoted some first semester Latin.

Here's another post of a negative experience, from a regular over at PPBB who desnorkeled his 986 but found it didn't work well with an installed PSE and Fabspeed. I'm sure it will be also dismissed as umm...another anecdote, or related to that setup.

The mod may be completely harmless, but my point is, there are folks who at least in their minds attributed negative performance to the snorkel removal.

It's your car, your snorkel...

i doubt i'll do it! seems like something that has too much potential for something to go wrong - a random broken piece or something that renders the vent unable to re-attach or oooops, some water in the desnorkeled vent and sh$% no more running car!!!!

its just one of those things, where you have the constant urge to play with the car - finally got every light deambered (all my turn signals are silver/hyperwhite - sidemarkers and fogs included), have the schnell short shifter -but haven't resolved to install it myself - so, its like what could i waste some time in the garage doing tonight, ya know!

will probably just hold out and eventually purchase an exhaust and intake.

Holy crap, MS! One thread you're selling the Boxster and the next one you're mentally allocating money for mods! Whatever you got, I've got the same symptoms. You need to start working a cure (Well, other than make more money which you stand a much better chance of doing as a doctor than myself.) ;)
