It is kind of an involved process:

Pelican Technical Article: Changing Boxster Automatic Transmission Fluid - 986 / 987

Basically you jack up the car ensuring that it is level, crank it up, let the transmission fluid warm up to 30c-45c (86f-113f), and then remove the fill plug for the auto transmission. If a small amount of fluid comes out, the level is correct.
