Box S Gauge Rings

Hi...do the S gauge rings come off? If not do the aftermarket stainless steel rings go on over them? I want to do the rings yellow but don't want to mask the entire cluster.

I have taken them off but you risk damaging the glass. The aftermarket ones glue over. I used both silicone and a hot glue gun. They range from 200 to 350 for a set.
