Transmission mounts

There doesn't seem to be much discussion of changing the transmission mounts (2000 S) anywhere after a lot of searching The Pelican article looks nothing like my car. My passenger side mount has leaked the oil.

Has anybody done this themselves? It looks like a major PITA job. Thoughts or tips?

I had them out when I changed the clutch. You can get the 996 ones (pretty sure) and it's just the shock, not the bracket too.

After exhaust was out, support trans and they can be removed. Not a hard job.

The mounts without the bracket are from the 993, it is mentioned in the Pelican DIY article.

Yeah that's what I'm wondering - if it's such a big job should I just wait for the clutch job. Otherwise I take I have to remove all that just for one mount!?!

I replaced the trans mounts on my original Boxster since they were leaking fluid. I used the standard 986 replacement mounts and it was as easy as following the Pelican instructions (there are only three bolts IIRC). Pretty easy job.

I replaced the shock park of the mounts and reused the brackets. Don't remember it being a big deal but I was also replacing front motor mount and some coolant pipes at the same time. Don't remember removing any exhaust parts.

I did it and it wasn't too bad, but I also had the axles out and the sheet metal brace and diagonal braces. At first i tried to install with the center bolt tight and couldn't get the brackets to line up so I loosened the center bolt, installed, and then tightened the bolt (very hard to get a torque wrench up there but I did it :) ) In retrospect I could have probably lowered or raised the transmission with my jack to get it to fit.

My notes are from installing the wevo SS mounts but OEM should be very similar.

Someone on here recently had a,set of OEM mounts for a good price if it is still available.

Here are the mounts if they are still available:
