Someone egged my car tonight

Came out from a really nice dinner this evening to find egg up the hood and on to the windshield. Glad our motors are not up front and were only 30 min from home.
Still... damm haters.

Isn't that the height of idiocy? I have that at my house every year or so.

I would LOVE to catch those bastards in the act. I guarantee it would not happen again.

:troll:

I'm sure I don't have to tell you this, but get that stuff off there IMMEDIATELY. Raw egg will ruin your paint about as fast a battery acid. Faster maybe.

Yes, all washed up, I had just enough FK1-118SC car wash. My neighbors already think I am overly obsessed with washing my car, can't imagine what they think now after seeing me wash it at 10-pm at night in my dress shirt, pants and shoes.

Mind you I have spent many hours of the last several weekends detailing the exterior (clay, polish glaze, sealant, wax etc). This was the first weekend I did not plan on doing any of that because I was "done" with all the major steps. In the end I think that may have saved my paint. I'll have a better chance to asses things when it is daylight again.

Didn't notice any paint damage when I looked at it during the daylight today. But went ahead and washed it again. Everything all looked fine until I started using the quick detailer... when I sprayed that on the hood it revealed a stain from the egg.

I am guessing I need to strip everything off the affected areas and start over; very frustrating.

As I mentioned above I recently "finished" going through all the major detailing steps, three weekends worth of work. I had two coats of FK2180 (with applications of the FK425 before and after) then 3 coats of FK2685 pink wax.

Any thoughts?

Any thoughts?

Yes. I think you should track down and kill the motherf*ckers that done this to you...but that's just me, always trying to be the voice of reason.

You may want to:

1. Soak a towel in a solution of half warm water and half white vinegar.
2. Place the saturated towel on the egg stain, letting it sit for 15-20 minutes.
3. Remove the wet towel, wipe away remnants and dry the area with a soft, dry towel.

If you have some Klasse All In One, you may be fine with just working the stain.

Great stuff and safe as all get out.

surveillance camera. Those hidden camera works wonder in protecting your property. If I catch any idots that do that to my box, I'll chase them down with my samurai sword :troll:

Well this did not happen at home, we were out at a resturant. And upon further reflection, I now don't think the Boxster was singled out. The pattern of the egg splat looks like it was lobed over the hedge from the main road and my car was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I really do not have the time this week to redo all the sealing/waxing, but I will just have to make some time as well as parking in the shade (taking the risk of bird crap on the car). sigh

olly986 05-31-2006 04:23 PM

some kids made an eight shape with a fine tipex pen a few weeks ago i first thought it was a deep scratch and call the cops as this is not the first time my car was singled out.
use a rubbing coumpound to remove tipex and ended with a scratch mark, find it very hard still to make it go away

creseida 05-31-2006 06:53 PM

You are lucky. I had my car get egged once (not the Box) and the shell fragments were actually sharp enough to chip the paint.

I was HOT.

olly986 06-01-2006 04:03 PM

That happened to my 03 E46 M3 when it was two days old. No damage from the egg acid, but chipped paint in circular pattern in EIGHT locations on the car. I was bummed about it for a month and it still makes me mad when I think about it. To fix the paint would have required a repaint to about 90% of the car. The egg scratches were small but quite deep, some down to the metal. Couldn't be touched up because there were literally thousands of independent, closely spaced cuts into the finish.
