Anyone know where I can find one of these?

Folks, replaced my headlamp switch this weekend and one of those evil little pink torx screw clips fell inside the dash. Cannot find it. Searched forever.

In the picture below from the Pelican guide, it's the little pink thingie inside the headlight switch (red arrow). You screw the torx screw into it to secure the assembly to the dash. There are three of them for this section of the dash: two on the side and the one pictured. When I pulled the corner of the dash out to replace the switch, one of these little buggers on the side fell out of it's hole and somewhere into the dash. I even used a remote camera to try and find it -- no luck.

I can't seem to find the part anywhere online. Appreciate your help!

Nice to know I'm not the only one to lose one of those little buggers. And I was being very careful.

Anyway, I've searched the Interweb and cannot find the damn thing. It appears that the part is actually referred to as a "U-nut". I also left a message for Woody, so with any luck, he'll have some.

Your Porsche dealer parts man should be able to find it in the listings.

OK, so I am not sure if this is the part, but there is a parts diagram and I think it might be the part.

This thread, asking for help, definitely doesn't belong in "DIY project guides" section of this forum.

Thanks for the frank and candid comments, guys. However, if it wasn't clear from the sub forum name, the sub forum description should fill in the intention behind this area:

'If you have done a maintenance or upgrade project yourself, post your How-to guide here. Step-by-step please, for those who have't done it before.'

Now, the "Genral Discussions" and "Performance and Technical Chat" area would have been ideal for questions like this. And I wasn't intending to discourage questions like this from being asked, just hoping that the otherwise pretty useful DIY project guides area (and this forum, in general) could be kept more "clean".

OP, I'm glad you got your question answered. Maybe the new moderator can relocate this thread into an more appropriate area where it belongs. Or not, and we can just make this place messy and hard to use, and disorganized. Maybe we should go ahead and encourage spammers to contribute here too, while we're at it? Best of luck, guys.

Those pinkish Nylon? thingies look like a job for the 3D printer if nobody can source these anywhere for a reasonable price.

I don't see this DIY area as a library. Its an interactive forum so people will ask a question where they think the best answers will come from.

The "Forum" format IS a bit chaotic by its very nature, but anything more formal would require more moderation and discipline.
Thats why "Search" is your friend at 986forum.com.

If you want DIY library then go to the Pelican site where you can look for stuff in the technical articles library.

Lets not sweat the small stuff or discourage posting, the less experienced folks will learn by example where to put stuff as they contribute more often.

But some kind of DIY index would be very nice as the amount of valuable information amassed here is considerable.

Perhaps we could "Sticky" one Thread that contains links to all the proper DIY threads and we could sort it by criteria similar to the Pelican site with sections for Engine, Drivetrain, Steering, Body, Interior, Custom Mods etc.

@Need_for_speed - I'd recommend reaching out to our Porsche parts specialists on our customer service team. If those pink clips can be individually replaced, they should know about it. Simply call (888) 280-7799 or e-mail them via this link: Pelican Parts - Contact Us

Also, as Jake had mentioned, this is indeed posted in the wrong sub forum, so I'll be moving it to General Discussion.

No problem Roger. You can move an innocent request for help to whatever category you want. And as far as asking Pelican Parts for help, I did that, thank you very much. And I sat on hold for 30 minutes, and talked to your "Parts Expert", who treated me like a total jerk, and then informed me that he "didn't see the part on any of his diagrams." Thankfully, a kind forum member directed me to the right place, and the problem was solved.

So, Roger, go ahead and kill my profile, but be advised that Pelican Parts has lost my business. I'll be happy to use another vendor for all of my needs.

And thanks to all of the kind and helpful folks on this forum who are willing to jump in and help us keep these works of art in perfect running condition. I'll miss you all.

The people on this forum really are the ones who make coming here enjoyable. The information that is exchanged is priceless no matter where the posts are put and who puts them there. If someone feels this is not the appropriate place to ask for help, so be it, but you can't make someone feel like they don't belong because of where a post is placed. Thanks Need_for_Speed and I hope you stick around!!

And now that I'm really fired up, let me add something else, a plug for Woody. When I asked for help, this kind and helpful guy down in Texas actually found the part I was looking for and overnighted it to me for an incredibly fair price. And he even apologized because he had been on a well deserved vacation when I made the request.

So here's a plug for a true 986 guy who's not just in it for the money. Thanks Woody, you rock! Maybe you could consult for Pelican. Their parts department could use an assist.

Thanks Drew. Gosh, what a crime that I asked for help in the wrong forum.
