HELP - Are These Pads Wrong?

So the pads I removed (Textar) had lugs that go into the pistons, the new ones do not. This flies in the face of 101 Projects, since there's no I could have slid them out without removing the caliper (good thing I am also doing the rotors or I would have beat on them - instead I removed the caliper instead of fighting it).

I can't imagine the intent was to transfer the braking load to the pistons either....

TIA

hmm., I guess these are the shims and they're just stuck to the old pads?

These are anti squeal shims, they are stuck to the back of the brake pad. You separate them (before taking them out) by very carefully sliding a knife between the thin metal of the shim and the back of the brake pad. No need to take the caliper off
