CDR-23 to CDR-220 Stereo

Hi All,

Just bought a 986 2003 yesterday and been researching how to add an aux input. Unfortunately for me, I've got the MOST system with CDR-23 unit which I understand is fibre optic and doesn't have an analogue input.

All I want is an aux input cable, not fussed about having a double din screen or forking out on a dension unit or anything like that. I am therefore looking to get a CDR-220 unit and attach an aux-in cable thus maintaining the aesthetics of the cabin.

One question - will the CDR-220 plug in and play?

(PS I have scoured the internet to no avail)

I don't believe so. You'd have to completely change out the harness that ties the radio into the system. That fiber optic cable is the life blood of that audio system. The cdr 220 doesn't use fiber optic.

I'd check with beckerautosound.com to see if they can supply an aux in solution.

The Denison Gateway 500 is supposed to be a solution, but it is $400-$500 in the US. I decided to stick with my Monster Cable ipod FM transmitter for my 2003 Boxster S with the CDR-23 and the dreaded MOST which is the Least IMHO.
