Window Drop, Drivers Side
My driver side window will not drop the 1/2 in when entering the car. Seems to work Ok when I exit car from inside. Dealer quoted over $600 to replace the latch mechanism. Does anyone have experience with this problem, does the entire latch need replacement? Comments please. Thanks!

I've read this write-up a couple times to prepare to work on mine but they have started working again.

I followed that article to replace my passenger door latch mechanism due to a similar problem on my 2001. It was an easy job and I no longer have a problem.
I purchased a replacement mechanism from Woody here for $65 and installed it in a couple of hours. NOTE: I am not diagnosing this as a microswitch problem, your dealer did. I am just telling you what I did. |
When the window drops when you open the door but then goes right back up even though the door is still open, that is typically the microsw itch in the door lock assembly.
If it fails to drop when either the outer handle is lifted or the inner handle is lifted, but not both, that is the microswitch for that handle. That switch is available separately :) If the window doesn't drop at all, that is usually the regulator. My passenger side has the door lock assembly issue and my driver side just got it... Uggggg |
Window Drop
Thanks for the comments. I am in touch with Woody and will get a replacement latch. I continue to be overwhelmed at the prices Porsche wants for some of their replacement parts. Glad we have the forum to state problems and ask for advice.

Window Drop
Steve,
You indicate my problem could be the microswitcg for that handle, and it is sold separately. Can you give me information on P/N and where I could buy the switch. Thanks! Ken Morgan "2003" Boxster Seal Gray Tiptronic 105k miles |
Ken, your last email went to my spam folder. I just sent you some pics of the handle and door mechanism. Call me if you have anymore question
