Matching Wall Paint to Porsche Paint
I'm a little frustrated that, so far, I've not found a shop that can mix interior wall paint to match Porsche paint codes.
Now... I realize the depth of a high-quality, multi-stage automotive paint job can't be reproduced (w/o ridiculous expense, anyway) on a wall, but I'd a thought there'd be SOME correlation to get the basic shade. Anybody have better luck? ideas? I'd like to match Signal Red, but I don't have a pristine sample to try and match even by swatch. Hoping to avoid ordering the automotive touch-up paint for matching. |
Buy touch up paint and paint dime size circle. Then have HD or Lowes color match.
I have spray paint made at a local shop easy based on code. Cell phone pic and print on glossy paper? |
Yeah, unless someone has specific knowledge of how to transpose the code into something a major supplier can match, I'll hafta order sample automotive paint first.

The easiest way is to take a pantone color chart, put it against the car paint and find then closest match the take that pms color number and have paint mixed at any paint store, or lowes or home depot, etc

Easiest way would be to do like a automotive body shop would for matching paint on repair work... scan the existing.
Remove gas filler flap lid from body then have paint store use optical scanner (any store worth their weight in salt has one) to formulate best tonal match possible. Flap removal directions here: https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7533/...990b2a72_z.jpg Good luck :) |
