Strange items found in my driveway

I have a 99 Boxster and I found some strange items in my driveway today. Not sure they are from the car so I thought I would post a couple of pictures.

Any thoughts?

Bicycle wheel/hub parts?

PaulE 05-04-2016 04:38 PM

The quarter is mine, I was in Massachusetts last week and it fell out of my pocket while getting out of the car.

+1

Or maybe that was a single row IMS bearing that someone tried to DIY.

Came to say this. Zero doubt.

coaster brake hub parts...

Yup bicycle hub parts.
looks like single speed coaster brake hub bitz.
I'm guessing not Sturmey archer, probably a Schwinn or a knock off.

the curved and ridged part is one of the friction/locking plates.
The other part is the spline to hub locking plate with spring plate to spread them apart.

Definitely an IMS failure. :D

No, just kidding. This looks like bicycle parts. Left one looks like from a internal bottom bracket, the middle one looks like a wheel bearing and the right one looks like a lamp socket.

Regards, Markus

isn't the ribbed one the end of one of those generator/magnetos that rubbed the tire and produced electricity to power a headlight on a bicycle?

No. Outer portion of the coaster or pedal brake. Looks like the generator drive wheel though.

Glad to hear it is not from the Boxster. Looks like the neighbors kids were doing some repairs in my driveway again.

Thanks for the quick response.

I haven't seen a kid fix a bike in years....barely seem them riding one anymore.

Glad to hear that there are still some future gearheads out there.

great guess. I was like, "ewww, what the heck is that?"

Muffler bearings. Definitely muffler bearings.

Jager 05-05-2016 07:21 PM

A Porsche forum with bicycle experts… Love it. But the bearing does resemble the IMS bearing on the Boxster… Maybe a little smaller.
