Ignition problems Boxster 2000
Started with the (normal) problem where the car won't start and you have to crank on the steering wheel. It deterioriated to where removing the key left some things on, resulting in a battery drain (dead).
Dealer in Nowport Beach wanted $1,000 (sounds like a deal right now) so I took it instead to a "Porsche specialist" in Mission Viejo. He put in a new lock mechanism, the battery continued to drain and he declared he couldn't fix it. I paid him $350 for his incompetence and decided I didn't want him messing with the car anymore. Now I need to get it to the dealer but the car won't turn over. I get nothing when I turn the key. I see from the posts that ignition problems are common in 1997 - 200? cars. Anyone have any wisdom to share? How about a good mechanic in the OC area? :confused: |
What part was replaced?

Doesn't this sound like a simple ignition switch replacement?
