That makes sense to me. I always thought of the name Honda Acura like I would a Chevy Chevette. Instead I should think of it in the manner I think of a Ford Lincoln as just a Lincoln.

I still think it's weird that some models are able to break away from the manufacturer's name, but I was never involved in marketing so I'm sure there are great reasons for this.

Yes I think that as long as you don't get an IMS lemon a daily driver boxster will last for a long time, (I had a vw turbo diesel jetta that finally died at 500k miles along time ago, that was an evil car , I actually had to kill it intentionally, lol)

Sorry for late response. Work this week has been insane for me and the car.... Been averaging 200 miles a day, in some of the most remote areas with more bad/no roads. :D

Retroman...enjoyed your pictures except for the second last one obviously. My heart sank when I saw it...I work in a factory that makes sunroofs for Lexus SUV'S...every 65 seconds another sunroof comes down the line for me to put parts on for cars I have no interest in but my '02 Boxster will be coming out of winter hibernation next week with a brand new top with glass window and THAT my friend gets me all excited!!!

Yeah the accident looked bad, but nothing vital was hit. ;) A hood and bumper cover and it was good to go.

Glad to read about how tough your Boxster is.

I'm a bit surprised your Japanese truck crapped out, but not at all surprised about the Jeeps. My sister just got rid of hers after spending way too much money trying to keep it on the road. Same story with my wife's brother's Jeep. My neighbor's 1980-something Jeep went out of service a month ago. Instead of dumping it, he bought a new Wrangler for $44K while he figures out how to fix the old one. Many people love those things. Why, I don't know. Our family has been using and abusing a Toyota Sienna AWD for 11 years without a single problem. It's not as capable as a Jeep, but reliability is worth more than entry and departure angles to me.

Sienna is a Camry with a different body. Reliable.

That Nissan was kind of a lemon I guess. I had another one before it for years, lower spec, and I rarely ever had trouble with that one.... Until some idiot ran a light and bent it in half. Still miss it.
To be honest I'm one of those that loved the do-anything rugged simplicity of the Wranglers, but if I ever get another 4x4, it will probably be something like a Toyota 4-Runner. Do-almost-anything, but with much less trouble.
