How do you clean your drain holes?

i saw someone in the Facebook Porsche Boxster 986 group recommended using a flexible trombone cleaner to push all the way down and through the drain pipes to make sure they're clear. It seems like a good idea as long as pushing the cleaner through doesn't disconnect the drain tube from the drain fitting.
