Water Damage
Hi 986 Peeps,
It's been awhile since I've posted on here, My 2001 Boxster with 115,000 miles on it had been running great for the past few years. This past Friday in New Orleans we had some heavy rain. The street where my Boxster was parked filled up with water and it got high enough to get a little bit inside the interior and was high enough to completely cover the exhaust pipe. I think it had been sitting in the high waters for at least 3 or 4 hours before the water went down. Unfortunately I had no chance at getting to the car to move it before the water came up. Has anyone else had any experience with water covering the entire exhaust pipe and getting a little bit of water into the interior? I'm fairly certain the insurance company will be totaling it out. I'm very bummed about this.... |
Not sure about the exhaust but if you got water inside the car, specifically under the driver's seat, it has likely damaged/destroyed the alarm/immobilizer, which is very expensive to repair/replace. I'm sorry to hear you 986 may be totaled.
If it ends up being repairable, here's a link to an ECU repair shop I have heard good things about: Specialized ECU Repair, Replacement, & Testing - Restore or Exchange your Electronic Control Unit (ECU) |
