Pierburg water pump

I've read some older threads about the pierburg pump vs the porsche brand pump it's self. Just thought I'd see what the consensus is. Is the Pierburg as good as the Porsche pump?

Mine had been fine thus far. No complaints. I had read a bunch of earlier posts regarding what to buy so I went with pier burg.

The Porsche "brand" water pump IS a Pierburg WP. They are one in the same. The Pierburg one I bought had a Porsche part number on it.
Do not use anything but a composite blade WP

And yes, change to a low temp thermostat, there is no downside

I bought my WP, low temp thermostat in housing and 3 gal of Porsche unicorn sperm, better known as coolant at warehouse33auto.com it was around $350 delivered. If you put RENNLIST in the promo/discount box when checking out you get an additional 10% discount

I just did the WP, Low temp Thermo, coolant flush.
I bought Pelican's Kit = Pierburg WP-composite blade, Weiler Low temp thermo, gaskets.
Their coolant was within a couple dollars of others
I also did the Oil Cooler/Heat exchanger 'O' rings since coolant was drained

To early to really tell but I'm seeing lower drive temps (Torque App-coolant temp) on the few short drives I taken

This. I purchased a Porsche OEM WP last summer, and it had the Pierburg logo stamped on the side. The only difference is the Porsche box the WP comes in.

i've heard running the 987 WP will help the car run a bit cooler, is there any truth to that?
