Oil Capacity of a 986 vs a 996

Does a 3.4 996 have a smaller oil capacity than a 2.5 986?

I have always filled my 99 Boxster with 10 quarts of oil after every oil & filter change.

I just read that the 996 series 911's 3.4 engine takes just nine (9) quarts after an oil and filter change.

Is that correct?

10 is a little much...
I like to add 9 when I change oil/filter and top off after a 15 minute drive (and cooling off period).

If you are putting 10 quarts in, you are overfilling it
When I do a oil and filter change, it takes a little less than 9 quarts to fill completely

Per my manual on my 04 S
8.5 quarts without filter change
8.7 with filter change

My 04 996 is the same with a 3.6

10 quarts sounds a bit much to me. I fill mine with around 9.3 total. I fill with a little less than 9, drive around a little and let it circulate through the engine, then top off whatever might be needed after that.
