First drive in spring

I've read quite a few posts, but my specific question wasn't answered in those.

In the spring, after being parked in the garage for 6 months, when I start the car for the first drive, I always have a little lifter noise. It's definitely lifter noise and I really only think that it's one. In the past I've allowed the car to idle for a 20-30 minutes before driving because I was concerned about that. The only time that this happens is after the car has been parked for months.

So my question is do I just start the car and drive gently for a while until the lifter is finally pumped back up, or do I let the car sit and idle until everything is normal? I just don't want to damage a lifter or anything associated with that because it is oil starved or something.

Garage
You will have noise at startup when it sits for that long, get it moving and the oil circulating and it won't take long to get it warmed up. Keep it under 3k until the engine is at operating temp.
