SPRING Time - Prep Question
Hey guys, well Spring is right around the corner for us Canadian's who live in the snow. Even though snow is still here but the temps are starting to stay above 0C I was thinking of getting the car out of outdoor storage (no screaming at me, lol).
I was wondering if there is anything I should be aware of when taking the car out of winter outdoor storage when its still kind of cold out? What do you recommend? Thanks everyone - hope to see ya'll on the road soon! |
DO NOT start it and let it idle for 15 min and shut it off, thinking that it's good to "run it". If you start it, drive it. Just letting it idle is bad for your car. Resist the temptation.

One of the warnings I've seen is around the top and rear window, especially if it's a plastic one. You want to make sure the temp is high enough so that when you raise/lower the roof, you won't damage it. Warmth makes it more pliable, where as the cold will stress it.
Always good after a long hibernation to drive the heck out of it - burn off that old gas and get some fresh stuff in there. |
If you properly stored it for winter you should leave it until temps are above freezing. Do a search on the Porsche forums about running your m96 in severely cold weather. There's a growing sentiment that it's not a good practice.

Watch out for the sand in the corners :) and have fun!
