				Brake pad swap oddness

So I received my new Redstuff pads specified for my Boxster S.
I start the job (first time). To my dismay, I find that the old pads are different from the new ones: the new pads are taller. There is a lip on the rotor where the old pads ended (yellow arrow). The new ones extend further in and won't easily slide past the lip. I have ordered new front disks since these ones are nearing the limit anyway.
Have I got this wrong, or did somebody else f*** up?

Got the red stuff as well and noticed the same back when we've installed them. Takes a few minutes to bed in correctly no huge worries. Do NOT hard brake thinking it will speed up the bedding process... the opposite, give it a few soft braking rides before hitting that break pedal (you don't want to warp the rotors)
Nobody screwed up. Aftermarkets parts it is. Nothing like Red stuff... you'll like them

Look for meyle rotors on eBay. The PAIR for the front around $80 and rear around $75

Don't bed the pads until the break-in coating is gone

I have red stuff and like them
Are you Sure you didn't get the front and rear pads mixed up?

Also if your brake fluid has not ben flushed in a while, it's a good time to do it. In any case, bleed them at least

Those EBC Red are the right pad, I am running the same ones. The Boxster S front pad has the counterweights or whatever they are called, but I believe the 996 front pads can also fit, and those are the ones that don't seem to have the ears. I had a set of Akebono ceramic that didn't have the ears. It looks like your old fronts were the 996 style.
The wear limit on the S rotors is 2 mm which works out to 1 mm per side - if your lip is 1 mm then you are at the wear limit, so it may have been time for you to get some new rotors anyway.

Meyle is a good german brand, when it comes time to replace my fronts (may be a while since they are relatively new now) I will probably try them. I have a set of ATE for the backs - they were a good price but not as good as those Meyle.

It looks as though the set you removed was a Non-S style pad. I'm surprised they did shift while braking.

No, they were in there pretty snug, but they did fade quite a bit at the track !
