Traveling and engine wont idle - no CEL but codes P0011 and P1341

I drove down to Dallas from SLC last week and am making the return trip today.

I have an 03 Boxster 2.7 with 63k miles.
I had the complete 60k done service a week before I left.

I made it to Albuquerque and noticed that it would no longer hold idle speed. I could keep it running, but had to do a lot of heel/toe. Any time the RPM's got lower than 1k it stalled.

I got to my hotel and hooked up my Durametric.

No CEL/ error lights, but I got 2 codes:

P1341
Fault code 900 - inlet camshaft bank 1

I cleared it and restarted. It ran roughly for a second and threw this:

P0011
Fault code 332 - Camshaft position with respect to crankshaft bank 1

I could take it to the local Porsche dealer, but they said it could be a day or two to get to it. I don't have my tools with me and no where to work on it.

Thoughts?

Would you risk driving it back to SLC if this was your car?

Thanks
John

My .02 (use at your own risk).....

Can you look at your cam deviation? If within spec, it would seem like you have a failing sensor.

If you have a bad sensor as opposed to a real issue with your cam timing. it wouldn't seem like you would have any risk to your car by motoring on.

Is there a dealer or good indy between Dallas and home that could help if you called ahead?

Best of luck!

Sounded bad at startup today.
There was also a puddle underneath.
At the dealer in Albuquerque hoping for the best.

Go to the dealership & insist upon inspecting the oil filter with your own eyes 1st!

I checked the filter. It was full of nice golden goodness <sigh>.

I rented a car to get home and will drive my truck back and trailer the 03 back this weekend.

Now the search for a rebuilt engine with a warranty. If not, Woody has one that may work....

That stinks! Sorry to hear it.

Crap. Sorry to hear this. Woody will be reasonable.
