Hidden Secret Key Fob

My "Boxster Secret" came from the Toyota dealership I purchased my 2001 base from.
I got a call Saturday from an unfamiliar phone #.
While normally I don't answer these....(my position is, if it's important, they will leave a message) I decided for some reason to make an exception.
SO glad I did.....

It was the salesman I bought the car from, calling to tell me that the dealership came across the second key fob to my car.

Even though it has been almost two years......

He asked if he could send it to me.
Uh....yes, please.

Score!!

I usually find change under the center console and under the seats. I've also found rolling papers and a pipe. The car with the pipe had another surprise. Someone had shot the cluster! From the angle of the bullet, someone in the driver's seat had done the shooting. What a dip**************** on so many levels. The only real cool thing I've found that was a great surprise was when I was removing a shifter boot and discovered a short shifter.

I found marijuana roaches, two rusty lighters, dried puke, and corroded change under my seats when I yanked them out to replace them.

I am the 4th owner of my car and most probably, the 2nd or 3rd owner was a party animal or at the very least, transported a couple of party animals around in the car. The passenger seat base was so crusty and cardboard-stiff from all the dried puke that I couldn't wait to replace the seats.

However, the ULTIMATE Boxster Secret I discovered a week after purchase was when my mechanic called me over to look at the bottom side of the car up on a lift. He said, "see how filthy your transmission case is? Compare that to the pristine clean and BRAND NEW motor someone put in this car a couple of days before you bought it!"

I paid $7k under blue book for my car. The kid who sold it to me was using his dad's dealer's license to buy and sell Boxsters out of the Miami auction and never took the time to have his mechanic look over my car. He bought it and put it on ebay the day he drove it home from the auction, thinking it had the original motor in it with 84k on it.

Disgusting, Randall!

I found change, ashes and cigar wrappers under my console. Cleaned and deodorized thoroughly, and installed the no-smokers cup.

I can think of more things that are worse than dried puke, so I was actually grateful!

You didn't know your Porsche had fog lights? Typically every car on the planet with a decent price tag has fog lights, almost every single European cars has rear fogs. Whether they are active or not. It's law in certain countries to have for bad weather. It's no secret.

Depending on geographic location. Other side can easilly be enabled. I did that the same day I brought the car home.

I was surprised that it has front and rear, my CTSV has a pretty decent price tag but has no rear fogs, back in Europe (I am actually English, and lived tbere for 25 years) my R34 GTR did not have rear fogs as standard, but, had to have them retro fitted when it landed from Japan, same thing with my RX7 :-)

All Japanese cars have an option for rear fogs, it was not mandatory. European such as German cars were mandatory. Even if they don't work here in the US like BMW or VW which some don't even have switches set. As for the Cadillac, that's a USDM vehicle, there was no reason for it since it's not even considered in any laws. I've done many studies on this since my previous car was funded by a Japanese company but totally built in the US by a US company and designed mildly for Japanese and European markets. There were 3 differe t sets of tail lights for each market. Like Japanese markets by law must have Amber blinkers and front side markers must bulge out to be visible from extreme angles. Same goes for the parking light I didn't know what it was but freaked me out when I accidentally activated the right side only parking light. Such a device isn't needed in the US.

I love the double takes when I actuate the windows while seemingly just locking up the door with the key....

Can you post or link instructions?

Is there a post or link somewhere that shows how to enable the second rear fog light?

I would be interested in doing that.

A personal pet is people who drive with their rear fog lights on when there is no fog, rain or any visibility limiting weather. I don't like when people do that with their front fog lights either, but can understand wanting a little more forward visibility with the low beams on.

Agree. Personal pet peeve. It's a clear, starry night people - you don't need your fogs on! Or the opposite - it's as thick as pea soup and you don't turn them on.

Bad idea---then your rear fog lights are indistinguishable from brake lights. There's a reason they come that way.

Was a passenger in a car in Germany one time that got flashed because the driver hadn't turned off the rear fog light since the snow had stopped.
